Chapter 1
A number of publication templates have been predefined to be used as example. You can select one or more of them and use them together with a selection for an issue to create for instance a contents page.
Enter here the date of the issue you want to select or from which you want to create a table-of-contents. In the format ccyymm (for instance 199901) or ccyymmdd (for instance 20000110).
Each article has a unique identification. You can use an asterisk (*) as wild cards. For instance AE* finds all the articles of which the article-id starts with "AE".
This command creates a list of articles. Which articles depends on the selections made.
By default, showlist creates a sortable list. You need to have Javascript enabled in your browser for that.
You can also create a list that shows the editorial comments or a list that shows the
attachments for instance pictures that belong to an article.
publish creates versions from the articles to which the templates have
been applied. When an article is to be published in several publications, several
published versions are created.
contents creates a table-of-contents for the publications and issue date selected.
Only the already published articles are used for the table-of-content creation. Alternatively you can use the publish-then-contents button
publish-then-contentscreates a table-of-contents of an issue of a publication. In the process,
all the individual articles are published too.
Chapter 2
This screen is used to enter articles, to edit them and to assign them to a publication. It is easier to understand when you have selected an article which is shown.
The upper part of the screen is used to display messages.
In this demo version of the VMP system, the filename is the article-id with extension .html added. Do not forget the extension or the article will not show up.
You can save an edited version of the article. For protection, you cannot overwrite
an existing article with a different article-id. For restore use the filename including
the .html extension. It is often easier to create a list of articles in the Editor management tool
and select an article to edit from there. With new you can create a new article. (Do not forget the .html extension in the file
name.
The demo version of VMP is browser based. This means that changes only take place after you have saved
the article. To get a next editor field or publication/part field, it is also necessary to save t
the article. The system will return an updated screen with an additional field. If you don't see any changes, try the refresh button in your browser.
After author there are three fields. The first is for the name of the author of the article. The second
is for the date (format: ccyymmdd), the last field is either "yes" or "no": used in some templates to indicate whether the author's name should
be included in the published article.
After editor there are three fields. The first is for the name of the author of the article. The second
is for the date (format: ccyymmdd), the last field is for comments on the article. There is always an empty editor field available for a new editor/referee.
The next fields take the contents of the article. Not all elements are used in
all templates. For instance sub titles are seldom used. In the lead
elements, main, and References you may use HTML tags.
