Rogue Wave Software acquires TotalView Technologies
Boulder 06 January 2010 Rogue Wave Software Inc., a Battery Ventures portfolio company, has acquired TotalView Technologies Inc., a provider of debugging tools for serial and parallel codes. The acquisition further extends Rogue Wave's reach into the market for High Performance Computing tools. In conjunction with Rogue Wave's April 2009 acquisition of Visual Numerics, the addition of TotalView creates the largest independent commercial vendor of cross-platform HPC tools and libraries.

Based in Natick, Massachusetts, TotalView Technologies' products have set the standard for highly scalable, cross-platform debugging of C, C++ and FORTRAN code. The TotalView debugger, the company's core product, has helped technical professionals build, deploy and test the world's most sophisticated software applications on the largest high-performance computing systems for more than two decades. Recent product innovations include the launch of MemoryScape, a graphical, dynamic memory analysis tool, and ReplayEngine, an enhanced approach to reverse debugging.

Software developers, testers and educators in Communications, Digital Media, Financial Services, Energy, Government Research, National Defense, Web Infrastructure, and Higher Education use TotalView Technologies' products to ensure the rapid development of mission-critical applications.

"For the past 25 years, TotalView Technologies has been the leader in high-end advanced interactive debugging. The addition of their scalable and unique debugging analysis tools, along with an exceptional team, enhances Rogue Wave's leadership position in HPC software development components and infrastructure", stated Brian Pierce, CEO of Rogue Wave Software Inc.

The combination of TotalView's technologies with the Rogue Wave SourcePro C++, IMSL, and Rogue Wave Hydra products will enable customers to deliver and test high-performance applications in scalable, distributed computing environments for science, research and commercial markets. Through Rogue Wave, developers will have access to a complete suite of cross-platform development tools to fully take advantage of parallel computing on distributed and shared memory systems.

"With the continued advance of multi-core hardware and changes in computing architectures such as GPU computing elements and hybrid distributed computing models, the combined technology of TotalView Technologies and Rogue Wave will provide developers unprecedented access to a single source of HPC development tools", stated Rich Collier, CEO of TotalView Technologies.

The acquisition adds to the list of Rogue Wave's worldwide clients with a well-established business and customer base in North America, Europe and Asia.
