Kaviza global expansion gains momentum with two new partners
Sunnyvale 26 January 2010 Kaviza continues to extend its global reach with a newly signed distribution agreement in Australia with TrackitOnline Software, and a reseller relationship in the UK with EssentialNET. To keep pace with growing demand, Kaviza will be releasing Version 2.2 of VDI-in-a-box, the industry's first and only affordable turnkey virtual desktop solution designed specifically for desktop budgets, desktop IT, and desktop user needs.

TrackitOnline, a recently formed Melbourne-based software-distribution company focused on virtualization, chose Kaviza for its ease-of-use, affordability and the strong customer interest it is generating.

TrackitOnline's Phil Lancaster stated: "Kaviza has presented a paradigm change to VDI - with its Grid approach and lack of SAN requirements, the appeal will be broad. Kaviza is a perfect fit for Australia, where the demand for green computing and IT efficiency is growing, and customers want easy-to-use, intuitive, cost-effective solutions."

Momentum is building with Kaviza's worldwide partners. In the UK, EssentialNET, the specialist optimization practice with vast expertise in remote and distributed office deployments, is offering Kaviza VDI-in-a-box as a remote-site VDI solution that avoids WAN connectivity issues.

"Poor WAN connectivity has been a roadblock to the adoption of centralized VDI, and Kaviza's architecture overcomes this. With Kaviza, we have the flexibility of co-locating Kaviza servers at remote sites for optimal desktop performance over LANs while managing the desktops centrally. Customers have all the benefits of centralized management without the performance constraints. Given our deep expertise reselling Riverbed Bandwidth Optimization and Talari WAN Aggregation solutions, Kaviza is a perfect complement to our portfolio - customers can mix and match centralized services with LAN-based desktops to get the best of both worlds", stated Kevin Penn, Managing Director of EssentialNET. Customer interest is high, and EssentialNET is busy deploying proof-of-concepts with NHS trusts, charities and enterprise customers.

Kaviza and EssentialNet are offering a series of free webinars the first and third Thursday at 2pm GMT in February and March.

Key additions in Kaviza VDI-in-a-box 2.2 include enhancements to template assignments, the addition of linked templates, and improved audit/logging capabilities. "As customer deployments are growing, we continue to augment desktop provisioning and template management capabilities to support a wide variety of use-cases", stated Kumar K. Goswami, co-founder and CEO of Kaviza.

Key features include:

  • Ability to assign multiple desktop templates to a user. Especially useful when migrating to Windows 7, so users can have both the current desktop and the new Windows 7 desktop concurrently available during the transition period.
  • Enhanced audit capabilities to support user chargeback policies.
  • In addition to Linked Clones, introduce Linked Templates. With Linked templates a single image can be associated with multiple templates each with their different policies. This reduces image patching time and saves on storage.
