The March 17 Migration Workshop is a free half-day session that provides participants with access to valuable tools and knowledge about upgrading from commercial cluster schedulers such as Platform LSF to a more cost-effective and complete environment. This workshop includes a detailed discussion of the differences between schedulers, a look at the benefits of core optimization, and an open Q&A session with leading experts in HPC.
This workshop is the third in a series of similar events which have taken place in Tokyo, Japan and at Supercomputing 2008 in Austin, Texas.
"We've launched this series in response to customers' requests for support in upgrading from LSF to SGE", explained Gary Tyreman, vice president and general manager of HPC at Univa UD. "These workshops have been popular because, now more than ever, companies are looking for ways to achieve cost efficiencies while maintaining productivity and performance. In less than a day, we provide the tools and expertise users need to migrate to a more comprehensive, affordable UniCluster environment."
The March 18 session, a full-day training course, is aimed at making cluster administrators more experienced, comfortable and productive with Sun Grid Engine (SGE). Led by recognized SGE expert Chris Dagdigian from BioTeam, the hands-on session is intended to provide full coverage of SGE administration in a small, highly interactive setting.
"The full-day course is for current or new SGE administrators or cluster operators who need comprehensive coverage of Grid Engine configuration, administration & troubleshooting", stated Chris Dagdigian, principal at BioTeam and the SGE Admin course instructor. "Participants don't particularly need prior SGE experience - I've run this workshop successfully with audiences of Linux and cluster system administrators having no previous SGE exposure. The material is also suitable for end-users and application integrators who need more information on SGE behaviour, operation and capabilities."
