Supermicro cost-effective personal supercomputer in volume production
San Jose 10 November 2008 Super Micro Computer has added what it calls a personal supercomputer to its SuperBlade family. Supermicro's new 10-blade server system based on the SBI-7125C-T3 blade provides the industry's most cost-effective blade solution, while also being the greenest personal supercomputer and office computing solution. Based on Supermicro's Server Building Block Solutions architecture, the SBI-7125C-T3 can also be optimized for 14-blade configurations which are ideal for HPC and data centre applications.

"Our new SuperBlade solution can be a very cost-effective supercomputer. Now our customers can affordabely enable a personal supercomputer next to their desks with the same computing power previously only available via large server installations", stated Charles Liang, CEO and president of Supermicro. "This optimized blade solution features 93% power supply efficiency, innovative and highly efficient thermal and cooling system designs, and industry-leading system performance-per-watt (290+ GFLOPS/kW), making it the greenest, most power-saving blade solution."

At an affordable price point, the highly efficient SuperBlade minimizes operating costs to provide the best total cost of ownership (TCO) solution available. This solution will particularly enable customers with a limited budget who need high-performance computing.

This supercomputer is ideal for scientists and researchers in life science, bioinformatics, physics, chemistry and similar fields of engineering and science. One example of a large SuperBlade deployment is the prestigious CERN Laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland, which selected the SuperBlade to upgrade the computing facilities for its monumental Large Hadron Collider (LHC) project.

Supermicro Server Building Block Solutions offer exceptional flexibility and outstanding feature advantages.
