The afternoon of the first day a Masterclass will address the porting of applications to Desktop Grids and Service Grids. This masterclass will be given by Tamas Kiss, from the Centre for Parallel Computing University of Westminster, London, UK, and responsible for application development and porting in the EDGeS project. This masterclass is part of a successful series of Grid masterclasses organised by the Dutch Gridforum Society.
The second day is of a more practical nature: it provides hands-on training in porting applications to the Grid. Participants will have access to the large European wide EDGeS Grid to run their exercises.
The workshop is designed to start with a general overview on the first day and end with a technical second day. Hence the organisational team expects more participants during the first session.
The workshop is aimed at:
- Managers in Research and Industry who want to get an overview of the state-of-the-art in (Desktop) Grid computing. See what it can bring to their organisations. (Attend morning first day)
- IT responsible and computational intensive application owners. To see what effort is needed to get applications running on the Grid and what the performance benefits could be. (Attend first day)
- IT responsible and computational intensive application owners with concrete applications to port to the Grid or plans to set up a Grid of their own. (Attend both days)
- Students in IT, computational science with an interest in Grid computing, distributed computing or cloud computing. (Attend both days.)
The event is free for partners of AlmereGrid, members of the EDGeS User & Industry Fora and members of Gridforum.nl
