The agreement provides StreamServe Persuasion users with reliable, high-performance database connectivity to major relational databases including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and IBM DB2 running on any platform.

StreamServe Persuasion enables companies to leverage information from enterprise applications such as ERP, CRM, SCM and legacy systems and transform it into revenue generating marketing vehicles through dynamic and personalized customer correspondence and cross-sell, up-sell campaigns. With an emphasis on enterprise customers and an open architecture, StreamServe Persuasion is designed to run on all established operating systems including UNIX platforms, Windows and Linux.

To support the multitude of commercial relational databases used by each operating system and the various database versions in play, StreamServe realized its proprietary database architecture could not properly scale or meet the data connectivity and performance requirements of a heterogeneous environment. Moreover, the company didn't want the performance of StreamServe Persuasion to be dependent on the vagaries of whatever ODBC and JDBC drivers may be available in its customer's environments.

By embedding the DataDirect Connect for ODBC and DataDirect Connect for JDBC product suites into the latest version of StreamServe Persuasion software, the company is able to offer its customers complete, high-performance support for Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases and plans to provide future support for the IBM DB2 database without the costly development and quality assurance cycles in-house engineering demands. Because database drivers from DataDirect Technologies are built on a unique, wire protocol architecture, they do not require database client libraries.

Removing the client layer improves performance and eliminates time-consuming and complicated deployment issues related to installing and maintaining different versions of the client software for different databases versions for different applications. DataDirect Technologies' line of standards-based data connectivity components consistently support the latest data connectivity specifications and offer advanced functionality across all major databases and platforms.
