World Community Grid stops with United Devices client - migrates to BOINC

World Community Grid announced it will completely migrate to BOINC. World Community Grid members currently have the option of using either the United Devices (UD) or BOINC clients to participate in World Community Grid: 67% of these computers are running on UD and 33% on BOINC. But for new computers this is already reversed to BOINC (80%) and UD (20%).

The UD software (MetaProcessor 3) was available since the launch World Community Grid. However, this version is no longer being supported by United Devices.

Some projects currently running will be finished running on UD within one year. This includes the FightAIDS@Home and Human Proteome Folding 2. These projects will run through the end of 2007 but no later than mid-2008. World Community Grid will make no new projects will available on the UD platform anymore. Before the end of October 2007 UD will not be available for registration anymore. All new projects will be available on BOINC Windows, Linux, and Mac.
